Treatment and Disposal | ||
Volume overloading system | Treatment and disposal up to all contracted loads and flows | The treatment plant does not yet have sufficient capacity to meet the demand of the Customers. M5 overflowed into the estuary once when the outfall could not cope with inflow into the treatment plant during a heavy rainfall event. This situation will be mitigated once the outfall capacity is improved to carry the volume allowed under the discharge consent. |
|
Not to exceed upgraded design of capacity of treatment plant and disposal system in order to comply with resource consent conditions | The 6 hour time and 25,000m3/day volume discharge limits on Bells Island discharge were exceeded on a number of occasions in August and September as a result of prolonged, heavy rain events. |
Pump Stations | ||
Overloading system capacity | No overflows for all pump stations | Three in total. Two overflows occurred at Saxton Road and one at the Richmond pump station. This situation should improve once the pipeline upgrade project is completed. |
